AN INTERNATIONAL GROUP OF YOUNG TOWN PLANNERS WILL PRESENT
A PROPOSAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE AREA OF ENCISO

This activity is included in the programme of the “Territorios21” International Town Planning Forum.

Five young town planners from four continents will visit Enciso next week to study the area included in the “Route of the Dinosaurs” and to present a proposal for the conservation of fossilized dinosaur footprints and for the rural development of the area. This initiative is included within the programme of the “Territorios21” International Town Planning Forum and its results will be presented on November 8 - World Town Planning Day - at the Riojaforum Congress Centre.

The International Young Planners workshop, organised by the International Town Planners Association (Isocarp), focuses on research in the area of the “dinosaur footprints” and represents a collaboration experience between young planners from four continents who have special interest in rural development issues.

The team is formed by five young planners, who, under the supervision of Fernando Brandao, Professor of Territorial Planning, and Javier de Mesones, an architect and town planning expert, will prepare a proposal for the conservation and rural development of the Valle del Alto Cidacos area in order to protect paleontological remains (fossilized dinosaur footprints) and for the economic and social development of the area.

The five young planners, aged between 30 and 35, come from Canada, the United States, India, Austria and South Africa. Their stay in La Rioja will begin on November 1 at the Enciso Paleontological Centre and the programme of activities will continue until November 6.
